Understanding the NDIS

The National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) is a government-funded program that supports eligible Australians with permanent and significant disabilities. It provides funding for supports that help people live independently, achieve their goals, and participate in their community.
At Benevida Services, we support people to understand the NDIS and use their plan in a way that reflects choice, dignity, and what matters most to them.

What the NDIS Can Support

Depending on your individual plan, NDIS funding may support:

The NDIS is based on choice and control, meaning participants decide what supports they receive and who provides them.

Eligibility

You may be eligible for the NDIS if you are under 65 years of age when you apply, are an Australian citizen, permanent resident, or Protected Special Category Visa holder, and have a permanent and significant disability that affects daily activities or community participation.

People with a psychosocial disability related to a mental health condition may be eligible for the NDIS if it results in long-term functional impairment. Eligibility is based on how the condition affects daily functioning, rather than diagnosis alone.

Eligibility decisions are made by the National Disability Insurance Agency (NDIA).
